The key purpose of the databank is to ensure that the data delivered to it is safely stored, readily available to all those entitled to access, and in particular that the transfer of data to lenders and others is as secure as required.
The Government has decided that the databank/database will act as an industry hub. Home Inspectors will be able to deliver a copy of the inspection record to the database. Lenders and others entitled to retrieve part or all of the information can get it from the database.

The example shown above illustrates the flow of information from the beginning of the marketing process through to the granting of a mortgage.
In order for a Home Inspector to be able to undertake an inspection he or she will obtain an electronic authority from a central hub. On completion of the report the Home Inspector will be required to send it to the database, at which time the authority number will be added to the report for distribution to the seller or whoever instructed the Home Inspector to undertake the work.
